Hiking to Save Lives

Hi my name is Debbie Guitron and I am training to hike Mt Zion as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am completing this hiking event in honor of Eleanor Flore's life and all individuals who are battling blood cancers as well as for the individuals who helped by donating. We can't do this with out you.
Please help by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. You can make a direct donations on this website . Don't forget to visit often to see my progress. All proceeds will go to LLS.

Remember every little bit helps and please don't forget to tell your friend, family, coworkers, and organizations. Help also by being a sponsor or donating a product or service.

Feb 6 2010- TNT Season Kickoff
- so today was our TNT Season Kickoff and i have to admit that i did not expect to be so inspired. Fundraising is hard, especially in this economy but today's kickoff reminded me that all my hard work will be worth it at the end. On another note, i want to say thank you to my hunny for helping me raise $$$. She has raised over $140 in TNTBraceletes sales. THANK YOU TO ALL THE COSTCO EMPLOYEES at the ASUZASTORE who are helping bring awareness to this cause by buying purple TNT Bracelets.

Feb 13 2010- Malibu State Park- 4.6 miles total distance*
Our 1st official Hike- Malibu State park was amazing, met alot of new peeps and got to see the MASH site, beautiful weather. Can't believe I get to be apart of this. I have been so excited about hiking and being outdoors since I signed up to be part of this great cause, but i got to admit it is more then what I expected. The smell of the earth, the cool breeze, the warth of the sun. It takes me back to so many memories of childhood, of family trips, of times w/ friends, summers at the lake, april showers, camping, the wind in your hair when riding a bike, laying on the grass looking up at a bright & clear blue sky. Ahhh the peace. I have been waiting for this part of my life for so long.

Feb 20 2010- Reseda Trails- 7miles total distance /800 ft Elevation
Okay so i really enjoyed this hike especially when we reached the lift. Its this big cliff that you hike/climb at an angle. Never in my craziest dream did I think I would actually be on a cliff like this, but I climb my butt all the way to the top, and found a little cave w grafitti at the very edge and dared myself to climb right into that too. Some of you might know I don't do well with heights, so this experience was very liberating for me. Along the hike I came across a boulder w a bright blue heart and the words "you are beautiful", at that moment I felt the most beautiful inside. I'm greatful for this opportunity.

Feb 27 2010- REI Clinic- Today we actually skipped the hike & instead spent the morning at an REI clinic were we learned what kind of equipment we will be needing as well as how to fit it accordingly. I was determined to get the perfect hiking boot as well as nice comfy socks & sock Liners. The most inportant things- to start off with atleast. I think I tried on about 5 pairs of boots each in like 3 different sizes. I was not leaving w/o my boots ( i see rain in the near future lol), or socks for that matter.

Employees at REI were very knowledgeable about all their products & offer a great lifetime membership for only $20. I have found yet another thing to shop for...now its time to break in my boots!!!!

March 6 2010- Temescal Gateway Park- what an amazing hike- IN THE RAIN. Im so glad i decided to buy that rain poncho last night...I was expecting it to sprinkle but i think we got a little more then that. I had mud all over the place- so much for my NEW boots, they aren't so new anymore, after only 1 hike- luv it!!! Its awesome taking a hike & hearing nothing but raindrops, soothing! as long as there is no lighting, which I learned a little about today. Hopefully I will never have to use this knowledge. LOL.
Thank you all again for your support!!!

2 weeks ago TNT had mentioned to all the Hike participants that they had 2 mystery donors who wanted to donate to our cause. All we had to do was include their email address on the next batch of emails we sent out informing people about our fundraising. I was unable to participate the first time but when the second time came around I made sure I added that email address, well guess what it paid off because they donated $150 to my fundraising. Good things happen...

March 13, 2010- Chantry Flats- Unfortunately i was unable to attend this hike. From what I hear it was an amazing hike, I really wish i didn't miss it but sometimes thats life. Well I still have next weekend to look forward to, ohh and there is always our midweek hikes. Loving it....
